Education in Faith

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these".  Matthew 19:  14

At St Augustine’s Parish Primary School, we aim to guide and assist our students with experiencing and appreciating God in their lives. As a Catholic School, our vision statement reflects on firm Catholic beliefs and traditions, while strengthening and developing our faith in a contemporary world. We stem from a strong Josephite tradition and students learn about the life and mission of Mary Mackillop. At St Augustine’s, we also have a great sense of social justice within our community and students are engaged in activities that enable them to grow in social awareness, offer support and assistance to those less fortunate.

Program- Our program reflects the learning foci as outlined in the curriculum ‘Horizons of Hope’.  This program is implemented from Year Prep to Year 6 and enables students to learn about God and how He is relevant in their lives and in the wider world. Students are engaged in a variety of activities that are scripture based, engaging, meditative, thought provoking and faith developing.

Prayer- All students enter into a prayer life with their class through daily prayer and reflection. They join with their school and parish to participate in class masses, school masses and feast days. Prayer is an important part of our lives at St Augustine’s and students pray at regular times throughout the school day.

Sacraments: The school prepares students for the sacramental milestones in their lives along with families. Parent information nights are held for each sacrament to inform parents of general housekeeping details for the actual day and to educate and give more insight into each sacrament.

The Sacraments are celebrated in these year levels

·         Reconciliation Year 3

·         Eucharist Year 3

·         Confirmation Year 6

We hope to create for each child a sense of belonging to our school, our Faith Community and above all to our God.
