Student Wellbeing at St Augustine’s
At St Augustine’s, we are committed to promoting a healthy, supportive, and secure environment for all children. We aim to raise awareness of the factors that build student resilience, while developing strategies to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen coping skills.
Our school provides a positive, inclusive environment where all teachers share responsibility for student wellbeing. We strive to create successful and meaningful experiences for every child, fostering a strong sense of safety, belonging, and wellbeing.
Children are supported to develop positive social behaviours and effective problem-solving skills through a variety of programs and initiatives, including:

The Treehouse Room
The Treehouse Room is a calm and nurturing space designed to offer multi-sensory activities, resources, and support to help students focus and engage in their learning.
Used by our learning support staff and teachers, the Treehouse Room provides an environment where students can reflect, calm, and develop personal strategies to prioritise their wellbeing, helping them return to the classroom in the best possible headspace for learning.
Students attend the Treehouse Room for scheduled periods, ensuring the space is used purposefully and effectively.
The Treehouse Room also hosts our social groups, small-group sessions facilitated by the School Counsellor and Wellbeing Leader. These sessions are designed to meet the specific needs of students and are planned in consultation with classroom teachers.
Respectful Relationships education is an important part of our commitment to student wellbeing and safety. It supports young people to build healthy, positive, and respectful relationships, both at school and in the wider community.
The program helps students to:
Develop respect and empathy for themselves and others.
Understand diversity and value differences in people’s backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
Communicate effectively and resolve conflict in positive ways.
Recognise and challenge stereotypes, discrimination, and gender-based violence.
Promote equality and contribute to safe, supportive school and community environments.
Through explicit lessons, classroom discussions, and everyday interactions, students learn the skills they need to build respectful relationships, show kindness, and stand up for fairness.
By embedding Respectful Relationships across the curriculum and our school culture, we aim to empower students to develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility in contributing to a respectful and inclusive society.
