As part of the specialist program, the students are immersed in the Arts which includes Visual Arts, Drama and Music.
In the Visual Arts the students have the opportunity to develop skills and techniques such as:
drawing
sketching
painting
collage
sculpting
They use a variety of mediums to create their own artworks that either reflect or are inspired by a variety of artists and styles.
During Music and Drama sessions, students have sung and danced during the music component and been exceptionally ‘dramatic’ while performing drama scenarios. The senior students have learned about Shakespeare’s plays through a children’s abridged version of his works. They also learn techniques and stagecraft, which they apply in their performances. Students listen to a variety of classical and contemporary composers and articulate their preferences. They also learn about the history of composers such as Eric Satie, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ravel, Rachmaninov, and Sibelius, to name a few.
