Physical Education and Sport Program at St. Augustine's
At St. Augustine’s, our Physical Education (PE) and Sport program offers a well-rounded approach to physical activity. It covers essential areas such as fitness, motor skills, movement, games, aquatics, recreation, and sport. Through a fun and comprehensive curriculum, we aim to help students develop resilience, teamwork, respect, and strong relationships. Our PE classes are designed to be enjoyable, inclusive, and engaging, with a teaching model that prioritizes student involvement and excitement.
Program Overview
Each year level will explore the following topics and areas of study during their PE sessions:
Our lessons begin with a fun and engaging 'warm-up' activity, such as Octopus, Rob the Nest, or Evolution, to name a few. These activities are typically student-led and require little to no equipment, maximizing student engagement.
Level 1 (Prep)
Term 1: Perceptual Motor Program (PMP), Basic Movement (Running), Catching, Exploration
Level 2 (Years 1 and 2)
Term 1: Fitness and Fundamental Motor Skills (Catching, Throwing, Running), Exploration, and Creation
Level 3 (Years 3 and 4)
Term 1: Fitness Testing, Invasion Games, Ball Skills, and Racquet Sports
Level 4 (Years 5 and 6)
Term 1: Fitness Testing, Modified Games, Ball and Racquet Sports, Health, Well-being, and Nutrition

Interschool Sports and Events
Interschool sports, athletics (House and District), and cross-country are key components of our PE and Sport schedule. These events provide an important link between regular PE lessons and extracurricular activities. Additionally, St. Augustine's will collaborate with external experts and clinics to enhance our students' learning experiences. These sessions will give students the opportunity to learn from specialists in various sports.
