FAQs:
What can I send?
If it can be printed in a newspaper, we'll consider it! Think poems, articles, photos, drawings, comics, puzzles, jokes, opinion pieces, interviews. Still unsure? Email library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au and we'll get back to you!
What format does my submission need to be?
All written pieces are to be sent as word docs attached to an email.
All images to be sent as high quality jpg files attached to an email.
NO links or pdf files please - and please do not embed images within a word doc.
Where do I send my submissions?
Email your submissions to Kat (St Augustine's community engagement officer) at library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au with "Westsider Submission" as your subject heading.
What do I need to include?
Be sure to include your first name ("Anonymous" is fine too!), the name of your school and the title of the piece you are submitting (if applicable).
If you are sending us a photo of people (ie. you've interviewed someone and want to include a headshot or you have a pic of a school event you'd like to share), please ensure that you have permission from those pictured and that you include a statement in your email along the lines of: "permission has been sought from X for the use of X photo".
Is there an age limit on who can submit?
Absolutely not! If you go to primary school (or are home schooled), you can submit!
Is there a limit to how many submissions I can make?
No! And we encourage class submissions! Teachers if you're working on something in class that you think the west needs to hear, send it to us. We can't promise to publish every submission but we'll do our best to represent you.
Is there a deadline?
Not really. The cutoff for each month is the middle of the previous month but you can submit any time. If your submission doesn't make the current month's edition, it may make the next!
How will I know if my submission has been received?
You or your school will receive a confirmation email.
Will you let me know if my submission is going to be included?
Yes! We will notify you if your submission makes it into the paper.
